Don’t Ever Give Up!

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Galatians 6:9 NKJV

I had to repair my toilet because it would take forever for the tank to fill up after flushing. Because it was a simple (not for me) fix, there was no need to call a plumber. I met and overcame many obstacles while I was trying to fix it. I went out and bought the wrong part. Once I realized this, I returned the part and bought the correct one. Once I had the right part in my possession, I made my first attempt of several attempts to remove and replace the old part. However, I soon discovered that I didn’t have the right tool. After looking for weeks, I finally found the right tool to remove the part. However, because I had experienced so much trouble on my previous attempts, I was reluctant to try to repair my toilet again. Despite this, I was tired of having something that wasn’t working, so I was determined to try to fix it. As I tried to remove the faulty part, it was difficult to separate it from the toilet tank. The closer I got to removing it, the harder it was to continue. I kept trying, and I was successful in removing the old part and replacing it with the new one. Once I finished, I turned my water back on, and I was so happy that it worked I started praising God!

The whole time that I was working, I kept thinking, isn’t this just like the situations we face in life? Something stops working the way that it should, but we are reluctant to change it for our fear that the new won’t work correctly, or that we will fail completely. Before I replaced the part on my toilet, I had to wait forty-five minutes after flushing the toilet before I could flush again. I accepted this, because I was unsure and afraid that I would mess up my toilet completely if I tried to fix it. Now that it’s done, I wonder why I waited so long.

How many times has God told us to change the way we are doing things or to go in a different direction, and we become fearful? We try it for a minute or two, and if it doesn’t immediately work, we go back to our old ways. In the meantime, our old ways have become inefficient and hinder us from moving in the things of God. When we grow weary, we should turn back to God, receive and follow His instructions carefully, and it will work! We will be healed, we will obtain our deliverance, and we will be set free by the power of God!

So, no matter what your situation is, or what circumstances you are facing, don’t give up. It gets the hardest when it’s almost over, because that’s when your strength seems to run out. But if you keep on trying, it will come to pass, just have faith in God, and trust Him. He wouldn’t have told you to do something if it couldn’t be done, or if He didn’t think that you couldn’t handle it.

What I Want You to Know

I want this blog to show my reflections about life with a Christian viewpoint. I also like to use pictures and display my digital scrapbooks, and other graphics in it because I love being creative using writing and pictures. I just want everyone who reads or visits my blog to be inspired, encouraged, enlightened, and to learn more about God.

It’s so difficult sometimes for me to write for this blog because I have a fear that someone will criticize it in some way, or that it will fall short. Every time I write a post and publish it, I overcome that fear. If I worry about what people will say and don’t try, I won’t ever make it. How can I expect to get my book published, say that I’m serious about writing, if I can’t maintain my blog? This is what I want everyone who reads this blog or follows me on Twitter to know, and it’s not something that I like to reveal about myself. I pray by showing some of my inner self to others, it will encourage someone else to do what they fear.

It's Not As Bad As It Looks

It’s probably human nature to feel that your situation is much worse than it actually is. We allow negative thoughts and criticisms from others to hinder us from doing what God has placed in our spirit to implement. I speak from personal experience about this, because I am constantly allowing the enemy to discourage me from moving in faith. It’s not something that I’m proud of, but I fight everyday to overcome it. I don’t know if God will deliver me from it, because it humbles me and propels me to seek God in everything that I do. Remember Paul’s thorn? (See 2 Corinthians 12:7-8) What gives the motivation to endure is verse 9: “And He (Jesus) said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My Strength is made perfect in weakness.” (NKJV)

What inspires me to do God’s will is viewing my circumstances through His eyes. God is a faithful God, and He always keeps His promises. He’s already revealed to me the end, I just have to get through the middle. When I look at the end, the middle doesn’t appear as impossible as it did at first glance. The enemy wants me to believe that it’s impossible, and that I won’t ever accomplish anything. However, with God all things are possible! (See Luke 18:27) As long as I seek God, and stay close to Him, it changes my viewpoint and I know that it’s not as bad as it looks. If you look at your situation through God’s point of view, you will come to the same conclusion.

The Right Turn

While driving one day, I started thinking how much easier it is to make a right turn than it is to turn left. Whenever possible, I like to execute left turns only at traffic lights, because sometimes they can be risky. Some left turns are so dangerous that some traffic lights actually have left turn signals, and you have to wait until the light turns green.

Just like driving, we all in life have executed right turns and left turns, made u-turns and turned in the wrong direction. One turn that you can take that is always a turn in the right direction is Jesus Christ. Once you turn to Him, your way won't always be easy, but you'll be travelling in the right direction, the path of righteousness. His way is the only road that leads to eternal life, so make the right turn and turn to Jesus.

My Thoughts About Twitter

Even though I said I wouldn’t, I recently joined the Twitter community so that I could establish my presence on the Web. Because I am a writer and trying to become a published author, I have been advised to join social sites such as Twitter, Facebook, etc, and develop a following of readers.

Ok, here is the problem I have with “tweeting”—I don’t know if I’m good at it. I don’t know, maybe I have too much to say that can’t be contained in one hundred and forty characters. Or, maybe I’m not the one to consult for zany one liners—whatever the case, I have tweeted maybe three or four times, three of which were responses to other “tweets”. When I visit Twitter’s site, I get so caught up on what everyone else is tweeting about and their home page designs that I hardly ever tweet myself.

Despite this, I have five followers, so maybe I’m better at tweeting than I think. I guess because I’m new to the site, I’m considered a “baby bird” or something. At any rate, I’m going to tweet until I get it right. If you want to follow me on twitter, click here.

Has the World Become Nastier?

Lately, it seems that everyone has an opinion about everyone and everything. Unfortunately, the comments and opinions that are usually given about anything are generally negative. Now that there is the option on the Internet to comment on the articles posted, you immediately see a negative and in most cases, profane response to an article. You can constantly find the word hate used, usually describing an individual the poster doesn't personally know.
I just wonder how much our society has encouraged this behavior. If someone doesn't like a person, they immediately tell the person how much they hate them on the Internet, usually without provocation. I just think it is a shame that so many people not only have such a negative viewpoint, but also that they think it is okay to verbally attack someone. They use profanity whenever possible, and fall just short of threatening the person.

I just wonder--has our society encouraged this behavior? Have we become a society of " I'll trash you, you trash me"? The society that we live in is so unforgiving and mean that it is sad. For example, I went to the website of a reality show that I enjoy to read one of the character blogs. Beneath this person's blog I found the nastiest comments about this person and their appearance. There really was no reason for the cruel comments that I found. I think that the Internet makes it easier for people to bully and pick on others true or perceived faults. I just wonder what would happen if every person that wrote a nasty comment about someone received one in return. I wonder if it would make them think twice about what they say to someone and how they say it.
